The Backflips Against Bullying incursion provided students with an entertaining way to discuss and think about a serious topic. The presenters provided students with various scenarios and then asked students to reflect on actions to take when confronted by bullying and ways we can all help prevent bullying.

Our grade 1 and 2 students are learning about plants. What are the features of plants? How do they survive? Why are some plants spiky and others shiny, some tall, and some tiny? Our little botanists explored the Royal Botanic Gardens, visiting various trees and plants, using their senses to feel and smell and look at the garden's residents.

Now and then a guest reader from 1B will read to the class. We wanted to share these pictures of Billy reading Julia Donaldson's ZOG to the class. Billy practised at home and it was really evident: he read confidently, with excellent pace and intonation. His classmates listened avidly and were very appreciative. Bravo Billy!

Grade 3 Invention Convention

Grade 3 held their first Invention Convention this week, and the room was full of clever thinking, problem-solving and plenty of creative repurposing.
Students were challenged to take everyday materials and turn them into something new. Boxes, bottles, cardboard, fabric, old containers and household bits and pieces became inventions with a purpose.
Throughout the session, students explained their ideas, demonstrated how their inventions worked and interviewed one another. Five classes visited, along with many families, creating a real buzz across the space.
It was a fantastic example of what happens when students are given time to imagine, design, build, test and share their thinking.
