Congratulations to students who have been recognised by staff for their demonstration of one or many of the 6 Learning Powers celebrated at SMDP.

On Monday, during our whole school assembly, the following students were acknowledged and their learning described so we all know why they are worthy recipients of our awards and applause.

You have been so focused on designing unique characters for your narrative stories, carefully adding special features and even challenging yourself by adding labels to your character! | 1C | Gunreez | For demonstrating outstanding resilience in Maths this week. She has approached every learning task with a positive attitude and always tries her very best. She thoughtfully uses materials and strategies to help solve problems and perseveres even when learning feels challenging. She should be very proud of the determination and effort she brings to Maths each day. Well done, Gunreez, keep up the wonderful work! |
1M | Skyla | For being a motivated learner. This week, you have given your best and a little bit more, in your writing and maths, always trying your best. You are a kind and caring classmate, helping others feel included and reminding those around you to be kind too. You are a star Skyla! Keep it up. |
2E | Zoe | This student has shown a strong and motivated approach to her learning. She stays focused during small group sessions, follows instructions step by step, and always tries her best to complete her maths tasks. She is also a confident and enthusiastic leader, actively leading actions during both our prayer services and AUSLAN lessons. In writing, she shows creativity and resilience by working hard to spell words correctly and develop her ideas. We are very proud of her effort and confidence. Well done, Zoe. 2A | Finn | For being a resilient learner who has been working so hard on staying calm when things don't go according to plan. You consistently show great effort and improvement listening to your teachers, following instructions, and completing your work with a big smile! 3/4LM | Jugaadh | For being engaged and curious during our recent Science Incursion. While you are often a quiet and reserved member of our class, your inner scientist truly shone through during our hands-on exploration. It was wonderful to see you step out of your comfort zone to wonder, explore and experiment with new ideas. You asked great questions and wanted to discover how things work. Keep questioning and keep exploring Jugaadh! We love seeing your enthusiasm! |
3/4K | Miesha | For being a motivated learner. You ask thoughtful questions to deepen your understanding, share helpful strategies with your classmates, and quickly organise your materials at the beginning of lessons to set yourself up for success. You consistently show a strong commitment to your learning and are a wonderful example to others. Keep up the marvellous work, Miesha! |
3/4S | Emma | This award recognises a student who has shown great motivation and determination this week. They consistently engaged in daily Maths review, contributing thoughtfully and confidently sharing their strategies to solve problems. They are focused, persistent, and willing to take on challenges, even when tasks are tricky. They are a fantastic example of a motivated learner who challenges themselves and is always striving to improve. |

1M | Abigel | For being a very motivated learner. This week you have started straight away, completed all of your reading group activities, and even asked for extra tasks when you finished. In maths, you worked with enthusiasm, wanting to challenge yourself and try the next level of learning. You are a star, well done Abigel! |
2E | Grace | For being a motivated learner. You show great focus during lessons and always try your best to complete your Maths and Literacy work to a high standard. This can be seen in your Maths activities and your writing of information reports. You listen carefully to instructions and are willing to improve and take on challenges. 3/4LM | Audrey | for being an extremely motivated learner last week in Mathematics. Audrey had been taking her learning in multiplication and division to the next level, seeking challenge and taking on feedback to develop her skills and speed! She spent every lunchtime building her score in TTRS whilst spreading her enthusiasm with others. Well done Audrey!! You are a rockstar!! |
3/4K | Nathan | For being a collaborative learner. You are always quick to offer your help to both teachers and classmates, and you do so with kindness and patience. You listen respectfully to the ideas of others and encourage your classmates to do their best. Thank you for helping make 3/4K such a positive and supportive place to be. 3/4S | Ila | For showing incredible resilience and determination during our weekly spelling tests. Even when they felt nervous before tests, they continued to work hard each week to recognise tricky spelling patterns and practise their words carefully. Their confidence and results have grown so much, and they are now smashing their spelling tests each week! We are so proud of the perseverance they have shown. You are a wonderful role model for what it means to be a resilient learner who never gives up. Thank you, Ila. |
5M | Evelyn | For outstanding collaboration and motivation during camp. You worked positively with your peers across all activities with enthusiasm, creativity and your big, bright smile which added joy to each experience. During hut building you never gave up protecting your creation from branch snatchers or collecting materials for innovative hut features! You demonstrated outstanding maturity throughout the camp by recognising when it was time for a reset during longer sessions and returning with determination to participate fully. 5A | Daksh | This student showed great resilience at camp this week. You demonstrated a positive attitude when faced with challenging activities and unfamiliar situations. Even when you found yourself outside your comfort zone, you took your time and worked it out. You managed your emotions well, allowing yourself to overcome difficulties with perseverance, determination, and a willingness to keep trying. Well done on the courage, resilience, and positive mindset you showed throughout the camp experience Daksh. |

You challenged yourself by recording the sounds you could hear in your sentence, and kept a positive attitude by persisting even when finding the right letters felt a bit tricky. PN | Willa | For being a creative learner in writing. Willa used detailed and expressive drawings to share her narrative stories, including a beginning, middle, and end. She supported her pictures with descriptive sentences, which she attempted independently. She said the words she wanted to write and then recorded the letters she knew. Well done Willa, you are driving your writing. |

You consistently show wonderful collaboration skills, working positively with everyone to help create an inclusive, warm, and supportive classroom environment. You are always willing to challenge yourself, take on extension tasks, and work hard to improve your vocabulary and spelling.
