Australian Mathematics Competition - 2026

We are delighted to inform you that Truganina College will be participating in the Australian Mathematics Competition in 2026. 

The Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) has been held annually since 1978. As one of the largest annual events on the Australian education calendar, the AMC was the first competition of its kind in Australia and is now one of the largest of its type in the world. More than 30 countries participate each year.

The Australian Mathematics Competition is open for all students from Years 3 to 9. It contains unique problems designed by leading educators and academics to challenge and extend your students’ problem-solving skills. The event will be held between: 

Tuesday 4th August - Thursday 6th August. 

Cost: $9.30 per student

Every participating student will receive a certificate upon completion. 

If you wish to register your child’s participation in this event, please refer to the Compass Event on the Compass Portal by Friday 3rd July (first week of school holidays) for payment.

ICAS Assessments 

We are excited to share that Truganina College will be participating in the world-renowned ICAS assessments in 2026.

What is ICAS?   

ICAS is an online academic competition that gives students the opportunity to challenge their higher order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Writing, and Spelling. 

Every student who participates is celebrated and recognised with a printed certificate in each subject area, and an online results report to track development each year. Top performers are eligible for one of the highly coveted ICAS medals.

How to participate in ICAS :

If you wish for your child to participate in ICAS this year, please:   

1. Go to the Parent Portal to sign up to chosen subject areas here or use the QR code above 
2. Enter our school’s access code – AKJ648    
3. Enter your child’s details, select the subject areas your child would like to participate in, then proceed to payment.   

Please note that the Parent Portal will close for online payments on Monday 20th July, Week 2 of Term 3. After payment is made via the Parent Payment System, you will receive an order confirmation email. Please keep this for your records.   

When will ICAS run? 

All assessments will be conducted at school in Term 3.

• Writing (Years 3 – 8) -  Week 4, Term 3, Year 9 Camp Week)
• English (Years 2 – 9) – Week 5, Term 3)
• Spelling (Years 2 –5 and  Years 7- 9) – Week 6, Term 3)
• Mathematics (Years 2 – 9) – Week 7, Term 3)
