Poems from our Year 6 Students

Stars gleamed in the night sky,
Cars drifted swiftly around corners,
Birds perched on heliotrope trees,
Trees danced while keeping the world lively,
The wind howled in the starry night,
Milky white clouds loomed over the city,
The moon looked exotic while lighting up the world,
The buildings towered over the majestic city,
The city roared with delight,
As the band played with pride,
And dawn finally arrived.
By Yeshwanth
Footsteps slowly faded into background noise,
Raindrops pattered rhythmically,
Making the pavement slick with rainwater and grime,
Misery dripped off the streets,
Petrol lingered in the sulfur coated air,
A lone bird chirped a tune,
The early melancholy quality engulfed the streets,
Homeless men sat on curbs scrounging for anything of value.
By Benjamin
Water crashed against the shore,
Creatures lurked in the darkest trenches,
Fish found leisure in wrecks,
Coral swished with the currents,
Worms burrowed beneath the sand,
Prey sought refuge in the plants,
Snails feasted on bodies at dark,
Seaweed danced in the in the water,
Blood poured out of bodies,
Sponge filtered the water,
Beasts battled in the deepest water.

The crowd cheered,
Referees booted the ball,
Managers bargained with referees,
Drinks spilled on the floor,
Food getting chomped,
Mascots whirled and danced,
Players rushed up and down the field,
Chants shone and flashed,
Pitch invaders zoomed up the field,
Goalkeeper hopped to defend the goal.

In a forest deep and lush,
Where sunlight rarely plays,
A fairy danced joyfully and proudly,
Among the woodland’s maze.
There was a magical dragon
Her tail was strong and light.
Her wings were bright with colours bright and bold
In the tranquility of a gentle night.
In the heart of a forest where trees whisper tales
As stars began to gleam.
Where leaves of twilight gold shine
Would shimmer like a dream.
By Lincoln
Planes dropped their bombs.
Gun shots ripped through the air.
Blood spluttered out of lifeless bodies.
Waves washed guns away.
Bodies thunked on the beaches below.
Sand covered up blood stains.
Boats floated to the shore.
People run for their lives.
They fought for France.
It was the Allied vs Axis powers.
That was the fight known from WW2.
