SWPBS

The fortnightly SWPBS focus has been: Treat Yourself Like A Best Friend.  This focus encompasses all of our school values. Here are some strategies that both adults and children can implement in their every day lives:

  1. Speak kindly to yourself – Just like you wouldn’t call your best friend mean names, don’t say mean things to yourself. Use encouraging words like “I can try again” or “I did my best.”

  2. Be patient with your mistakes – If your best friend messed up, you’d forgive them. Do the same for yourself. Everyone makes mistakes, and that’s how we learn.

  3. Celebrate your wins – If your best friend got a goal in soccer, you would cheer for them. When you do something good (big or small), cheer for yourself too.

  4. Take care of your needs – You would remind your friend to eat, rest, or take a break. Listen to your body and mind, and give yourself what you need. It might be as simple as staying hydrated and having some water.

  5. Encourage yourself – If your friend was nervous, you would say, “You’ve got this!” Say those words to yourself when you feel unsure.

  6. Include yourself in fun – You would invite your friend to play. Spend time doing things you enjoy, even if it’s just drawing, reading, or playing outside.
