Book Week Celebrations

What is Book Week?
Book Week (16 – 23 August) is the celebration of books, reading, and Australian children’s authors and illustrators. Book Week coincides with the announcement of the Children’s Book Council of Australia Book of the Year winners. The theme this year is ‘Book an Adventure'.
Got a Costume Planned?
On Tuesday 19 August FPS will celebrate Book Week – books, reading, and Australian children’s authors and illustrators. All students and staff are invited to come to school dressed as a favourite book character and/or bring in a favourite book.
Activities for the Day
Book Character Parade – 9:15am, on the blue sports court
The whole school will gather on the sports court (weather permitting) from 9.15am, and the Year 6 leaders will MC the parade. Parents are welcome to join us at this time!
If it is wet, the parade will be split into two sessions and held in the gym. The Foundation – Year 2 parade starts at 9:15 and the Years 3 – 6 parade starts at 9:45am.
Cross-age Activities: 11:15am – 12:30pm
After recess, students will be placed into groups with a mix of children from Foundation to Year 6 in each group. Teachers will use one of the shortlisted books as inspiration for an activity with their group. Students will return to their regular classroom for lunch.
We are excited to celebrate the joy of reading on this day and look forward to seeing many costumes inspired by favourite books!
