Kew High School Eco Crew Visit
Last week, students from the KHS Eco Crew visited the FSP Eco Club to share information about their school’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) and sustainability projects. They explained how they collect eligible containers, such as cans and bottles, and use the funds raised to support environmental initiatives at their school.
During the visit, our students discussed the types of waste we generate. While we don’t have many cans, we do have a number of juice boxes, which currently go to landfill. This led to a great conversation about how we might reduce this waste and explore our own CDS options.
The KHS students led a sorting activity to show how to correctly separate CDS items and the importance of keeping barcodes visible and using clear signage to stop contamination.
The group also gave us several seedlings, which we have now planted in our veggie garden. It was a valuable opportunity for our students to be inspired and see practical examples of student-led environmental action.
We hope to continue this connection and look forward to sharing our own projects with the KHS Eco Crew in the future.
