Jazz Night
Luca Thavarasah, Year 11, Ridgeway Campus
This year’s Jazz Night was an enjoyable experience for both the performers and the audience. The atmosphere was relaxed, friendly and a great opportunity for students to showcase their skills. It was the kind of night where you could just sit back, enjoy some great music, and appreciate the talent in our school community.
The student bands put on an impressive show. From classic jazz pieces to more modern tunes, every performance had its own vibe. The teachers’ performance stood out in particular—each one brought something unique and showed the standard that we students could reach some day. You could tell how much effort and practice went into preparing for the night. It wasn’t just about technical skill though; all the music groups from different year levels really highlighted that you don’t need a high technical ability to play jazz and make it sound pleasurable for the audience.
One of the best parts of the night was the atmosphere. There was a light, bubbly environment between the players on stage and the people in the audience. Everyone was just there to enjoy the music, support each other and share the moment.
Overall, Jazz Night was a great reminder of how powerful live music can be, especially when it is created by people you know. Whether you were performing or just listening, it was a night to remember. I am looking forward to it getting better and growing every year.
