SCHOOL LEADERSHIP MESSAGE

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
My first week at Korumburra Secondary College as Principal has been especially heart-warming because of the generous welcome that students, staff and colleagues from across the community have shown me.
Starting a new term always brings a renewed sense of purpose and opportunity, and it has been wonderful to connect with students and staff. Over the past week, I have enjoyed spending time in classrooms, visiting learning spaces and seeing firsthand the engagement, curiosity and resilience that our students bring to their learning each day.
One of the highlights of my role is being able to witness the excellent teaching and learning that occurs throughout Korumburra Secondary College. During my classroom visits, I have been in a Year 7 Humanities class, a Year 8 Art class and met with individual senior students studying in the Senior Study Centre. I was impressed by the positive relationships between students and teachers, the quality of learning experiences being provided, and the way each of our students are supported to embrace challenges and strive for improvement.
I have also valued the opportunity to meet with our teaching teams and professional staff as we continue to focus on improving outcomes for every student. Our staff meetings and collaborative professional planning sessions have reinforced for me the strong commitment from staff across KSC to delivering high-quality learning programs, supporting student wellbeing and fostering a culture of high expectations.
This term promises to be a busy and exciting one, with many important events on the horizon. A particular highlight will be our Careers Expo on Tuesday 21 July, which provides students with a valuable opportunity to explore future pathways, engage with industry representatives and gain insights into a wide range of career and educational options. I encourage all students and their families and carers to make the most of this experience and begin thinking about the many possibilities available to them beyond secondary school.
A key focus for me this term will be student attendance and the vital role it plays in learning success. Regular attendance is one of the strongest indicators of academic achievement, wellbeing and long-term educational outcomes. Every day at school matters. When students attend consistently, they remain connected to their learning, develop positive relationships with peers and teachers, and are better positioned to achieve their personal best. We will continue to work closely with students and families to promote positive attendance habits and ensure that every young person has the opportunity to fully engage in their education.
I look forward to sharing more of our achievements and successes throughout the term and thank our students, staff and families for their ongoing support and commitment to making Korumburra Secondary College a positive and thriving learning community.
Warm regards,
Emmanuel Skoutas
Principal
