Book Week
This term’s whole school day celebrated Book Week and the theme was “Symphony of Stories”. Visiting author Crystal Corocher shared her experiences as an author and lead the children in storytelling. It was lovely to see so many parents reading with their children and also the older children reading with younger children.
Grade Prep and Grade 1 children followed up with their Junior School Book Week special performance of “Dear Broccoli”. Please read the Grade 1 report in this newsletter.
Sports
Term 3 is always a busy term with sports events and it certainly has been very busy.
Students who qualified in their events at the District Athletics Carnival are now preparing for the Divisional Athletics Carnival which is being held on 7 September at Meadowglen Athletics Track.
We have 16 students attending the District Senior Basketball competition, being held on Tuesday 8 September at the Darebin Sports Centre.
The Girls Hockey Team is continuing through to the Victoria State Schools Hockey Championships being held on Thursday 10 September at the Footscray Hockey Club.

School Uniform
We have several students who are not wearing the correct school uniform on a regular basis.
Our uniform is a colour-based uniform of royal blue and gold. The uniform does not have to have a school logo however it can not have any other logos either. We also have a number of students wearing black and white long sleeved tops under their short sleeved polos. This is not part of our uniform and should not be worn.
Hats : NO HAT, NO PLAY
As we are now in September and the UV is increasing it is compulsory for all children to wear a hat when they are outside and the UV rating is 3 and above. Children must wear a royal blue school hat. Parents can buy a bucket hat from the school Uniform Shop. The children can also wear a royal blue broadbrimmed hat.
Children are not permitted to wear a baseball style hat.
Parents, please make sure your child has a clearly named hat in their bag at all times for the remainder of the year. Children who do not have a hat will be restricted to playing in an undercover area.
If your child needs a new hat, you can order one on Compass.
End of Term
The end of term is fast approaching. The last day of this term is Friday September 18 and we will be finishing school at 2:30 pm.
