Season of Creation: Living Water
As we continue our journey through the Season of Creation, we are invited to pause and reflect on this year’s theme: Living Water. Water is something we encounter every day, yet it is easy to overlook just how precious it is. From the rain that nourishes our gardens to the water we drink, water is a gift that sustains all life.
For our Christian tradition, water carries a deep and powerful meaning. It reminds us of baptism, renewal and new life and of Jesus’ promise of living water; a source of hope and nourishment for our lives. Pope Francis encouraged us to develop an ecological spirituality. To see creation not simply as something around us, but as a gift of God in which we are deeply connected. The Season of Creation gives us an opportunity to slow down, notice the beauty around us and consider how our everyday choices can help care for our common home.
As a school community, we can ask ourselves:
How can we be like living water; bringing life, hope and care wherever we go?
Maybe it could be through caring for our environment, being mindful of how we use water, reducing waste, or simply showing kindness and compassion to someone who needs it.
Just as water flows and gives life, may the love of God flow through our SMCM community, nourishing our relationships, our faith and our care for creation.

A Time to give Thanks - Term 3
As we reach the end of Term 3, we have much to be grateful for and many wonderful moments to reflect upon. It has been a term filled with celebration, faith and opportunities to come together as a community. We began the term celebrating the Feast of St Anne and St Joachim, giving thanks for the gift of grandparents and the special role they play in the lives of our children. Our Year 4 students then celebrated a very spec
ial milestone as they received the Sacrament of First Eucharist for the very first time.
We also came together to celebrate the Feast Day of our wonderful patron, St Mary of the Cross MacKillop and to recognise the example of faith, courage and service that she continues to offer us. We celebrated Father’s Day, giving thanks for the many fathers and father figures who nurture, guide and support our children.
And let us not forget the incredible generosity of our students and families through the wonderful toiletry donations collected for our Mini Vinnies Winter Appeal. These generous contributions are a beautiful example of our community living out the call to care for others, particularly those who may be experiencing hardship.
As we look back on the term, let us give thanks for these celebrations and for the many ways they continue to grow our faith as a community. As we head into the school holidays, I wish our entire SMCM community a wonderful 2 week break. May this be a time to rest, relax and unwind and enjoy time with family and friends!
