Endeavour House News

We have so much to be grateful for and I consider it a privilege to share time with the Endeavour House boarders, as they tackle all the challenges and joy that they experience in this place. Whilst everyone is on their own unique journey, the boarders have a shared experience, which ultimately bonds them together as a tight unit (whether they like it or not!). To our boarders: while staff may offer feedback and guidance to support your learning and behaviour, please know that we think you are all incredible. Thank you for creating so many moments that allow staff to feel respected, connected, and fulfilled in our roles.  

Recreation

Well done to students who actively participate and contribute to the recreation program at Boarding. As the old saying goes ‘it's only as good as you make it’ and this is very much the case with rec. Even though it's been cold and wild weather, students are still keen to get out and about and join in the fun, when they can. We’ve also had students getting creative about how to have fun here on campus, as evidence by the recent ‘trash bagging’ trend!  

Endeavour House Staffing

Further to the staffing information provided in the last Buzz, I’d also like to let families know that Kyle Kovacs, Gap Assistant, will be taking on more of an active role during the morning shifts at Endeavour, in Amber Freeman’s absence. Kyle will be assisting students three mornings a week to get ready for school, with myself supporting.  

Much loved Thursday supervisor, Elly Bond, will complete her final shift in the house this Thursday, before stepping away from supervision to have her first child. Elly has a calm and gentle presence, and the students will surely miss her. All the very best to Elly at this exciting time. The ever-reliable Lachie Steytler will work in Elly’s place for the rest of the year.  

I’d like to acknowledge the work of all staff who make this house tick. Thank you to our additional supervisors; Axelle Sommier, Kier Perryman, Cheryl Baum, Lewis Ward and Gap Assistants; Handre De Bruin and Amy van der Merwe. The house would also not run without the contributions of our cleaning staff; Andrew Grace, Mela Dewi and Braeden Sprigg or day duty staff; Amber Freeman, Conny Stone and Caroline Hirt.
