From the Boarding Captain

Hello everyone

I want to say a massive welcome back for Term Three! I hope that you all have had an amazing holiday doing what you love and sharing experiences with those around you.

Firstly, I want to congratulate all boarders for making it to the end of Term Two. It was a busy time with sporting commitments and endless test, assignments, and exams but I hope you are all so proud of yourselves. For some of you, you are halfway through your first year of boarding and for the Year Twelve's this will be our last term of boarding.

In Week Ten, myself and a large group of boarders from Year Eight to Twelve travelled up to Perth for the best week of the year (in my opinion) COUNTRY WEEK!! It’s a week of joy, excitement and friendly competition. Regional schools from all across WA come together to play their favourite sports against one another. It was great to see all the boarders that went enjoying themselves and playing the sports they love, many of which was their first time going. The support for each other throughout the week is amazing to see and who is going to forget the footy game of Freo vs St Kilda.

I’m so excited for Isla Patterson and Cameron Hooper who have been awarded Endeavour House Leaders. I know you two will be amazing role models and will make a difference in our boarding community.

I want to give a massive shout out to Ms Gallimore who has been doing an amazing job planning recreational activities for all of us. Last term she planned a glow in the dark disco that include loud music, a game of limo and musical bobs. There was also painting of shirts and canvases available to allow a creative aspect.

The first weekend back we celebrated Christmas in July. This is the first time many boarders have ever heard of this celebration. We had a Christmas lunch which consisted of many Christmas games including covering one another in wrapping paper, drawing Santas, leader ball and many more chaotic events. It was a hectic lunch, but it was so much fun and there were so much laughter and decorations filling the dining hall.

On Sunday we had our annual Quiz Night! It was an evening full of laughter, friendly competition, and some impressively obscure knowledge. Teams packed the room, ready to put their knowledge to the test across a range of categories: Celebrities, the 1% Club, the Gappies, Sport, Bruno Mars Song Titles and some General Knowledge. Let’s just say some questions were a lot harder than others. The energy in the room was electric with our one and only Mr Donaldson as our MC (dressed as the famous John Wick). We had the classic Mr Squiggle with Rif taking out top spot and we also played the game of Heads or Tails with Matilda Chitty winning. After a nail-biting finish team Grey won the night!! I want to say a massive thank you for Mrs Franzinelli who organised most of the night and all our amazing judges.
