Assistant Principal (VM, 9/10) Report
Mr Travis Mcintosh
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students of Middle School,
Welcome to Week 6 of Term 3! This week marks the start of Course Counselling for our Year 9 &10 students, where they will begin selecting their subjects for 2026. It's an exciting and crucial time for students as they navigate decisions that will shape their future pathways.
We encourage families to discuss subject selections based on students’ passions, strengths, and the prerequisites required for future pathways such as TAFE, University, or apprenticeships. These conversations are vital for ensuring students make informed choices that align with their interests and long-term goals.
A quick reminder that Year 10 students will not be required to attend classes on Monday, 1st September. Instead, they will have a 15-minute Course Counselling Interview in the SLC. Interview times have been posted on the Middle School noticeboard and through the Middle School Teams Page—please ensure that your child checks their scheduled time.
To make their selections, students should have used their unique web code sent to their school email to enter their subject choices online at https://my.edval.education/daily.
We strongly encourage parents/guardians of Year 10 students to attend the Course Counselling Interviews. This collaborative approach ensures all parties are aligned in guiding students towards their best academic path for 2026.
Year 10 Middle School Wellbeing Day 4th September
Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that our Middle School Wellbeing Day is approaching. This special day will focus on the importance of regular wellbeing practices for success at school, both academically and personally. Stay tuned for more details about the event to be held at Karkarook Park.
Term 3 Progress Reports & Parent-Teacher Conferences
We are now halfway through Term 3, and teachers will soon be completing Term 3 Progress Reports. These reports provide an overview of your child’s progress in key areas such as effort, behaviour, class engagement, deadline management, and homework preparedness. Progress reports will be available to view during the final week of term.
We trust that the Parent-Teacher Conferences held on 13th August were a valuable opportunity for you to discuss your child’s academic progress. If you were unable to attend, please feel free to contact teachers directly for feedback on your child's performance. These discussions are essential for setting goals and ensuring your child finishes the year strong.
Ms. Collins will be on leave for the last three weeks of term. During her absence, the current Middle School Coordinators, Peter Tarwla and Luciano Murray, will be sharing the role of Middle School Coordinator. We are confident that they will provide continued support and guidance to our students in Ms. Collins' absence.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. We look forward to working together to ensure a successful remainder of the term for all of our Middle School students.
Best wishes,
Mr Travis Mcintosh
