MEDICATION MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION

As we begin the new school year, we would like to remind all parents, guardians, and students of the St Joseph’s College Medication Management and Administration Policy.

If your child requires medication during school hours, please ensure that the College Nurse is informed. A completed Medication Authority Form must be provided, along with the required medication in its original packaging. Prescription medication must include the pharmacy dispensing label with instructions.

All student medication is to be stored in the First Aid Office. Students will be required to attend the First Aid Office when medication is needed. For safety reasons, students should not store or self-administer medication, as this may lead to unsafe access or misuse by others.

Attached are the St Joseph’s College Medication Management and Administration Policy and a blank Medication Authority Form for you to download, complete, and return if required.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me by phone on (03) 5018 8000 during office hours, Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 3.30pm, or via email at lclohesy@sjcmda.vic.edu.au.

FLEXISCHOOLS CASHLESS CANTEEN

The college encourages ‘Flexischools – Cashless Canteen’, to make ordering lunch for your child/ren easier.

The college encourages lunch to be pre-ordered, and this app will allow you to do that. Orders are paid for directly through the app and sent straight to our Canteen. (No money will be required at the Canteen.) Through the app, you can also track your order history and load money onto your child’s student card so they can purchase items directly from our Canteen. In addition, you can set up multiple children on one account and top each one's card up separately.

Flexischools Canteen class lists have been updated, and all users will be required to select the new class (year level) when they next use the platform.

MESSAGE FROM VICTORIA POLICE

Victoria Police have noticed several e-scooters being ridden by school-aged children around Mildura. These scooters are being ridden both on the road as well as footpaths, with many riders not wearing helmets or protective gear. E-scooter related injuries have caused an increase in the number of Emergency Room visits. A large proportion of these are school-aged children presenting with injuries such as broken bones, spinal injuries and serious head injuries resulting in ABIs (acquired brain injuries).

E-Scooter riders must:

  • be at least 16 years old. (Under 16 year olds are not developed enough to make safe choices.)
  • not ride with a second person. (The brakes are not designed for this.)
  • not ride on the footpath. (This presents a danger to pedestrians.)
  • wear an approved bicycle helmet. (There is a high chance of head strikes with footpaths in collisions.)
  • not travel faster than 20kph. (The faster they go, the more dangerous they become.)
  • not travel on roads signposted above 60kph. (High-speed vehicles present a large risk.)
  • not use mobile phones while riding. (This is a massive distraction.)

The above offences may attract fines of up to $611.

Please read the attached letter and posters for further information.
