HEAD OF MERCY CAMPUS

WELCOME

Welcome back to the college and especially to the Mercy Campus for 2026. It has been great to see everyone ready to start the year on a positive note. A new year often brings its own little challenges, and it has been great to see so many students have a really positive start to the year. As Head of Campus I have found this to be very rewarding and commend the Year 8 students on this.

SCHOOL TRANSITIONS

Whether starting school for the first time, moving up to a higher grade or embarking on a journey through secondary school, there is no doubt that any school transition is a very exciting time for children and parents. It means your children are growing up!

However, transitioning is an ongoing process. It can continue long after students have entered their new environment, and challenges may arise at a number of different stages. These stressors may appear as anxiety and frustration and result in negative or disruptive behaviours. Such behaviours can become problematic making the transitioning process even more difficult for children and parents.

In this edition of SchoolTV, parents will learn practical strategies to assist your child during the transition process and reduce stress and anxiety levels.

SAVE THE DATE

Please put in your calendars Wednesday 4 March. This is our Year 8 Information Night. You will receive key details about your student’s time at the Mercy Campus as well as information for the Grampians Camp and the option of taking a campus tour.

GENERAL REMINDERS

A few reminders as we start the year:

  • Your student’s Pastoral Care teacher for 2026 will play a similar role to their Enright Homeroom teacher. They will be your first point of contact when working with the college.
  • School drop-off and pick-up can be done within the campus grounds. This is much safer than dropping students on Eleventh Street or Riverside Avenue. Enter the grounds via the Eleventh Street gate, drop students at the theatre end of the campus, and then exit out on to Riverside Avenue.
  • Vehicle access to the campus is one-way: enter via the Eleventh Street gates and exit onto Riverside Avenue.
  • When picking up students during the day please park in the front car park on Riverside Avenue and collect your student from the office inside the foyer.  You must come into the office to pick up your student.
  • Advise college reception when your student will be absent for the day. This allows for the marking of the roll and accurate notifications.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP

Developing student leadership and responsibility is an important aspect of student life at the Mercy Campus. The process has begun to select our 2026 Mercy Campus Captains and Vice-Captains. Speeches will be held in early March.
