School Canteen Update

Over recent years, we have been very fortunate to have strong parent support in running our school canteen. We are extremely grateful to all volunteers who have generously given their time and energy to support this important service for our students.

Following parent feedback and careful consideration by the School Leadership Team, we have made the decision to outsource the operation of our school canteen for a six month trial period.

This decision has been made with the best interests of our students and families in mind. Outsourcing the canteen will allow us to:

  • Offer canteen services on more than one day each week
  • Provide a wider and more consistent menu
  • Increase the availability of healthier food options
  • Ensure reliable service without placing pressure on parent volunteers
  • Maintain high standards around food safety, quality, and efficiency

Parent feedback made it clear that families value greater choice, healthier options, and increased access to the canteen. Outsourcing enables us to respond to this feedback while continuing to support student wellbeing and healthy eating habits.

We want to reassure families that the school will continue to oversee canteen operations closely, including menu selection, pricing, and adherence to health and nutrition guidelines. We will review this service during term 2 and conduct a parent survey for your feedback.

We sincerely thank our parent volunteers for their incredible contribution over many years. Their support has been greatly appreciated and has played an important role in the life of our school.

Parent help is still needed! We will continue to run our special food days and morning teas and sell Zooper Doopers during the warmer months. In the coming weeks we will hold a Parents and Friends meeting to begin planning our 2026 events and fundraisers. All parents are welcome.

Further details, including operating days and menu information, will be shared with families shortly.

Thank you for your continued support as we work to improve services for our school community.

Kind regards,

Kevin Gleeson
