Middle School Courtyard Redevelopment

We are pleased to let you know that St Carlo Borromeo School has commenced renovations to the Middle School Entrance Courtyard on the Haddington Crescent side of the school.

This exciting project will:

• Create a new outdoor learning space for students
• Improve access and movement through the school
• Provide seating for parents waiting at the end of the day

The redevelopment will take approximately eight weeks to complete. During this time, there will be some minor changes to school entry and exit points. Please be assured that student and family safety is our priority, and staff will be on duty before and after school each day to support these changes.

School Entry and Exit Arrangements

Haddington Crescent Access

• In the morning and afternoon, students may enter and exit through the two main gates on Haddington Crescent closest to the School Office.
• Please note: The gate in front of the school crossing (Middle School area) will be closed for the duration of the works.

Drummond Street Pedestrian Gate

• The pedestrian gate at Drummond Street will continue to operate as usual before and after school.

Council Oval Entrance (Soccer Pitch Gate) – New Access Point

• As with previous building works, a temporary entry and exit point will operate via the Council Oval to the Soccer Pitch gate.
• We particularly encourage Year 5 and 6 students to use this access point.

Morning Drop-Off

• The main entrance courtyard (Haddington Crescent) and school office will remain open as normal.
• Prep, Year 1 & Year 2: Parents may continue to drop children in the entrance courtyard or use the Drummond Street pedestrian gate.
• Year 3 & Year 4: Students may enter via Haddington Crescent, Drummond Street, or the Council Oval entrance.
• Year 5 & Year 6:  Students may enter via Haddington Crescent, however are strongly encouraged to use the Council Oval or Drummond Street entrance.
• Older students may continue to walk younger siblings to class if needed.

Afternoon Pick-Up

• Exit points will be available via:
  • Haddington Crescent gates
  • Council Oval (Soccer Pitch)
  • Drummond Street pedestrian gate
• Prep, Year 1 & Year 2: Parents may meet children in the Junior Courtyard or Entrance Courtyard.
• Year 3 & Year 4: Students will be encouraged to exit via the Council Oval or Drummond Street gate. Parents may wait in the Soccer Pitch area.
• Year 5 & Year 6: Students may exit via the Council Oval or Drummond Street.
• Siblings may continue to collect younger family members from their classrooms.

Please discuss meeting arrangements with your child so they know where to go at the end of the day.

Important Reminders

• All playgrounds are closed before and after school, including for toddlers.
• Before and After School Care will continue to operate as normal. Parents may access the service via the staff car park and use the middle door of the hall.
• Bikes and scooter can be stored in the entrance courtyard behind the office area (see pic attached)
• Concrete will be poured over the next two weeks so there will be some restriction in parking.

Staff will be present each morning and afternoon to assist students and families, and we are confident these arrangements will run smoothly. A sketch of the access points during construction is attached for your reference.
