Principal Post

Dear Families,
It was fantastic to be able to gather with our Foundation families last evening for some Pizza and Information sharing. It is so important that our Foundation students are warmly welcomed and supported as they transition to our school. It was such an enjoyable gathering and I hope that all families found it worthwhile. Thank you to the Foundation teachers and Year 1-2 team and Leadership members for their orgaisation and facilitation of the evening.
Clapping In and Badge Ceremony
Our 'Clapping In' and 'Badge Ceremony' held last Thursday morning was another reminder of our commitment to supporting our students. I congratulate all our Captains and new students and staff . May we remember our theme for the year at St John Vianney's Mulgrave, 'We Are One'.
School Representative Council and Mini Vinnies Badges
Badges will be presented to our elected Semester 1 SRC and Mini Vinnies representatives at Monday’s assembly. Parents of these students will be notified via the NPortal late Thursday afternoon. You are most welcome to join us at 2:45 pm to share in this special honour.
Students going home early Procedure
Parents and carers who wish to collect their child prior to the end of the school day are requested to contact the school office by telephone at least 10 minutes in advance, even if an email notification has already been sent. This procedure is essential to ensure requests are received and processed efficiently, as the office manages a high volume of enquiries throughout the day. We appreciate your support. Parents must sign out via V-Pass.
School Photos
Thank you for your support of our school photos taken on Monday. If you still wish to order photos, please call School Pix to do so. School photos can usually take up to 3 weeks to receive.
Congratulations to Zahra
Last year, Zahra was presented with the SJV Spirit Award on her Graduation evening, which coincided with the presentation of the Hotham Community Spirit and Leadership Award so she could not attend the official evening to receive her award in person. Finally, this week she has been able to receive the award from Hon Clare O'Neil MP office.
Zahra was an outstanding leader and role model to everyone here at SJV. We know she will continue to lead and inspire others in such a positive way! Congratulations Zahra!
Foundation Rest Day/ Testing
Today the Foundation students have their second 'rest day'. Some students are scheduled for testing. The Foundation students will have one further rest day on Wednesday 18th February.
Carpark - Before and After School
Please be watchful, patient and extra careful in our carparks. As we welcome our new families this term, the front carpark has become exceptionally busy, so we kindly ask for your continued patience and cooperation to keep traffic flowing smoothly. Please ensure that you do not block the road or the entry and exit points, as keeping these areas clear is vital for the safety of our students. For a faster and more efficient experience, we highly recommend utilizing the Kiss and Drop zone at the back gate. This is a safe and easy option where teachers are always on duty to assist, allowing you to bypass the front congestion while ensuring your children transition into school safely.
Lunar New Year Mass and School SAC and Leadership Commissioning Mass
We invite all families to the 10am Parish Mass on Sunday 22nd February to celebrate the Lunar New Year. After Mass there will be a refreshments and cultural celebrations in the Parish Hall. Bring a plate to share - drop it off in the Parish Hall before Mass begins.
During the Mass the School Leadership team and the School Advisory Council will also be commissioned.
Shrove Tuesday
Next Tuesday is Shrove Tuesday! Each class will be enjoying pancakes together as a way to learn about the traditions and meaning of this day. A permission form has been sent via the Portal for you to register your child’s participation. Please email admin@sjvmulgrave.catholic.edu.au if you have any questions or concerns.
Ash Wednesday
To mark the beginning of Lent, the Year 1-6 students will attend the Parish Mass at 9am.
As it is a rest day for Foundation students, parents wanting their Foundation child to attend the Mass can do so, but the child is in the parents' care. There is also a Parish Mass at 7pm.
Canteen Update
Due to some severe egg allergies within our school community, egg in sandwiches will no longer be served through the school canteen. This change has been made to reduce the risk of cross-contamination and to help ensure the safety of all students.
This does not mean that students are unable to bring food containing egg from home. Families may continue to include egg in lunchboxes if it has been prepared at home.
Thank you for your understanding and support in helping us maintain a safe environment for everyone.
