Year 8 French

The Year 8 French students have been enjoying our study of Le Petit Prince and have been putting their French vocabulary into practice in a creative way.

After watching the film, students created their own Le Petit Prince posters, using vocabulary they have been learning throughout the year. Their posters included descriptions of his clothes, colours, hair and eyes, as well as important characters and objects from the story such as la rose, le renard, le mouton and une planète.

Students worked at different levels, with some using French vocabulary to label their pictures, while others challenged themselves to write complete sentences describing Le Petit Prince and reflecting on the story and characters.

It was wonderful to see students confidently use their French in a creative way and make connections between the language they are learning and the film they have been watching.

Biology Zoo Excursion

VCE Biology went to the Melbourne Zoo with Mrs Shergold and Mr Tinetti. Mrs Shergold’s class was studying the primates at the zoo and Mr Tinetti’s class was looking at animal adaptations and their role in their ecosystems.

I enjoyed visiting Melbourne Zoo because it allowed me to observe a diverse range of species and develop a deeper understanding of biodiversity, adaptations and interactions between organisms. The excursion also highlighted the importance of conservation, helping me consolidate my knowledge of how human activities affect ecosystems and why protecting endangered species is essential for maintaining biodiversity. I really enjoyed going on the zoo trip to see all the animals from a biological perspective. It was really cool seeing the meerkats! Faith

I really enjoyed travelling to Melbourne with my classmates and teachers and getting to see animals from a scientific perspective. The trip was definitely a highlight of my year. Harriet
