Jesus’ Easter Timeline
Palm Sunday – Jesus Enters Jerusalem
- Jesus rides into Jerusalem on a donkey.
- People lay palm branches and shout, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”
Monday-Wednesday – Jesus Teaches & Judas Betrays Him
- Jesus clears the Temple of money changers, saying, “My house shall be called a house of prayer.” (Matthew 21:12-17)
- Judas agrees to betray Jesus for 30 pieces of silver (Mark 14:10-11).
Thursday – The Last Supper & Betrayal
- Jesus shares the Last Supper, instituting the Eucharist (Luke 22:19-20).
- He washes His disciples’ feet as an act of humility (John 13:12-17).
- Jesus prays in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-46).
- Judas betrays Him with a kiss, and Jesus is arrested (Matthew 26:47-56).
Good Friday – Jesus’ Trial, Crucifixion & Death
- Jesus stands before Pontius Pilate and is sentenced to crucifixion (Matthew 27:11-26).
- He is mocked, beaten, and carries His cross (John 19:1-17).
- Jesus is crucified at Golgotha (Luke 23:33-46).
- He dies and is buried in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea (Matthew 27:57-60).
Holy Saturday – Jesus in the Tomb
- The tomb is sealed, and guards are placed to watch over it (Matthew 27:62-66).
Easter Sunday – Jesus Rises from the Dead!
- Women visit the tomb and find it empty.
- An angel declares, “He is not here; He has risen!” (Matthew 28:6).
- Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene and later to His disciples (John 20:14-29).
