Gardening

We have had a fantastic term with the prep, 1, 2s and 2/3s classes as we have settled into our rhythm in the garden.
Our tomatoes and Figs are finally ripening, and the abundant Cucumber crop is coming to an end.
Most weeks we are sharing food from the garden - it's wonderful to see children trying new foods and understanding how they grow across the season.
This term we have practiced various techniques of propagating plants, such as sowing seeds, making cuttings, and growing a green manure crop to help care for our soil.
We have learned about Composting, seed saving, and proper watering techniques.
Children have also had the opportunity to have choice and agency in the garden through nature play - we have loved making potions with sensory herbs, nature crafts, and of course feasting on the nectar from the 'honeysuckle' (Salvia 'Hot Lips' (Salvia microphylla).
If you are looking for some nature-based activities in the holidays, Kids in Nature Network's Nature Play Week is running from April 11 - 22nd.
There are over 100 activities across the week - check out the calendar here: https://kidsinnaturenetwork.org.au/
