Mission and Identity

“Almsgiving … offers us a chance to halt before the poor, to look into their eyes, to touch them and to share something of ourselves with them.”
Pope Leo XIV, Dilexi te, no.116
Lenten Appeal
Pope Leo invites us to look to others throughout Lent and to share something that we have in order to support and assist others. To give alms is to give food, money or resources to those in need.
As a school community, we are committed to supporting Maanya Parish in Uganda. This community live in poverty and struggle to obtain clean drinking water.
In our lives of relative privilege, it is hard to believe that there are people living without access to clean water for washing, cooking and drinking.

International Women’s Day Breakfast
Yesterday, Mr Balboa took a group of students to Monte Sant Angelo’s International Women’s Day breakfast. Natasha de Silva was the keynote speaker, and an alumna of Monte who paid respect to the work of the Sisters of Mercy who instilled the importance of dignity for all women.
She spoke about driving Culture Change within organisations, and how this needed to have service at the heart of all initiatives. Natasha also talked about the importance of women and gender balance within organisations in her work with different national sporting organisations such as the NRL, Cricket Australia and Golf Australia.
It was a wonderful morning of learning, networking and spending time listening to really relevant and timely messages.
Year 8 Formation Day
We look forward to spending the day with Year 8 at Oxford Falls this Friday, 6 March. Students should arrive at school at the usual time and will depart on buses at 9:00 am. They are to wear their full sport uniform and must bring their recess, lunch, water bottle and cap.
We will be looking at the theme 'Who do you say I am,' from Matthew 16:15 and will spend time looking at personal and group identities and the qualities we bring to our school community.
