In STEM this term, students have been learning about Earth Science.

In Grade 1/2, students have been developing their understanding of the Earth’s rotation and how this movement causes day and night. They have also explored how the Earth’s tilt and orbit around the Sun contribute to the changing seasons, and how these natural cycles impact our environment and daily lives.

In Grades 3/4, students have been learning about the importance of preserving Earth’s natural resources. Students have researched about an issue they were most passionate about and created their own persuasive posters on human impacts on the Earth.

In Grade 5/6, students have been focusing on the causes and effects of natural disasters such as tornados, tsunamis, hurricanes etc. This week, students investigated how tornados form, the different types of tornados, the lasting impacts of tornados on communities, and how people and infrastructure can best prevent the devastating effects.
