As we begin to feel the gentle shift from summer into autumn, we are reminded that the change of seasons brings with it a change of pace. The brightness and energy of summer gradually give way to the calm focus of autumn. In schools, this seasonal transition mirrors our learning journey.

The early weeks of term are often filled with excitement, new routines and fresh goals, and as we reach the halfway point of the term, we naturally move into a steadier, more reflective rhythm. Autumn invites us to pause, take stock of our growth, and refocus on the goals we have set. It is a time to consolidate learning, strengthen habits, and continue building momentum for the remainder of the term.

Harmony Day

This Thursday, 12th March, we look forward to celebrating Harmony Day as a vibrant expression of the rich cultural diversity within our school community. Students are encouraged to come dressed in traditional cultural attire or to wear orange, the colour that represents respect, inclusivity and belonging.

Throughout the day, students will participate in African drumming sessions within their classes, celebrating the rhythms and traditions that connect communities around the world. In the evening, we will also gather for our Iftar dinner. Gates will open at 7:00pm for a 7:43pm dinner, marking this special time of reflection and breaking of the fast together. We warmly invite families to join us for this meaningful community event.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent–Teacher Interviews will also be taking place shortly, and we strongly encourage all families to attend. These meetings are a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, celebrate achievements, and identify areas for continued growth.

This year, interviews will be conducted jointly with both the English and French teachers present, allowing for a comprehensive conversation about your child’s learning across both language programs. A strong partnership between home and school is key to student success, and these interviews play an important role in strengthening that partnership as we move into the second half of the term. Bookings can now be made through your Compass Portal.

Staff Development

Tomorrow we look forward to our Curriculum Day, which will provide valuable opportunities for staff to engage in professional learning. Our teachers will be visiting other schools to observe colleagues in different educational settings, sharing practice and engaging in rich discussions around pedagogical approaches. Professional learning is essential in ensuring that we continually refine our teaching practice, remain responsive to student needs, and provide the highest quality learning experiences. When staff learn, students benefit. Investing in professional growth strengthens our collective capacity and directly enhances outcomes for every child in our care.

In addition, staff have been undertaking professional development with Professor Helen Cahill, building our capacity to effectively deliver the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR) program. This important initiative supports students in developing the knowledge and skills needed to build positive relationships, manage emotions, and contribute to a safe and inclusive school culture. During recent wellbeing sessions, students have been exploring Topic 1: Emotional Literacy and Topic 2: Personal Strengths. These foundational topics help students to recognise and name their emotions, develop self-awareness, and identify the strengths that shape their identity and interactions with others. We look forward to continuing this important work throughout the year as we strengthen both wellbeing and learning across our school community.
