English & French
1/2 English
In Mathematics, our 1/2 students have been learning about number and place value. They are developing their understanding of how numbers are structured and how each digit has a specific value depending on its position. Students are practising reading, writing and ordering numbers, and are learning how to represent numbers in different ways.

1/2 French
Students in Year 1/2 have settled in nicely and are speaking lots of French!
In French, students have been learning about farms by discussing different animals and the products they provide. They have also been learning French vocabulary for fruits and vegetables and exploring different types of farms.
In reading, students have begun reading the story La petite poule rousse, which helps them understand how wheat is transformed into bread and cakes.
In writing, students have started creating their own stories by thinking about the main character, what the character wants, the problem, and the solution. They are also making connections between their own stories and La petite poule rousse.
In Week 8, students will visit Collingwood Children’s Farm, which will be a great opportunity to connect their learning about farms to the real world.
