Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS)

At CSPS, student wellbeing continues to be a key priority and I am excited to be taking part in the Victorian Government’s Mental Health in Primary Schools initiative program as our school’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader (MHWL).

Throughout the year, I will participate in ongoing professional learning to further deepen my knowledge and understanding of student mental health and wellbeing. This learning will enable me to support staff in building their capacity to respond to student wellbeing needs and to work collaboratively to strengthen whole-school wellbeing practices and supports for all students. As part of the MHWL role, I will be:

  • supporting staff through wellbeing initiatives and professional learning opportunities
  • helping strengthen classroom practices that promote inclusion, resilience and emotional wellbeing
  • supporting the implementation of whole-school wellbeing programs and initiatives
  • helping students build positive social and emotional skills
  • working collaboratively with families, staff and external services to support student wellbeing when needed.

I look forward to continuing to work with our staff, students and families to help create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where every child feels valued, connected and ready to learn.
