Welcome to the Literacy page of the OLSC newsletter. This week we celebrated the students who completed the Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge.
Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge
The Premiers’ Reading Challenge begins on the first Monday in March each year and ends on the first Friday in September. The Challenge encourages children and students to read a set number of books over the year and record their efforts online. Since the Challenge first began in 2005, more than 4.5 million students have read over 63 million books.
This year, at OLSC, 324 students successfully completed the Challenge, a huge improvement from last year's efforts. The students are encouraged to add the books they read at home and independently at school and the teachers also add the books read together as a class.
Congratulations to all of the students who completed the Challenge for 2025. I look forward to next year when we will once again participate in the Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge!
