A Word from Justin
Term 4, Week 4 - Friday 31st of October, 2025
Dear Families and Students of OLSC
I sincerely thank all of the families for your understanding regarding closing the school today. At some stage overnight the school's water main was stolen. We are unable to operate without water and so the closure was necessary. I know this posed a great inconvenience to families (probably some joy for students) and your understanding is appreciated.

We do have a description of the offenders which has been provided to Werribee Police. I would also like to acknowledge and thank all staff for assisting with the many tasks that needed to be completed due to this incident.

On Monday 27th October the staff celebrated Pink Ribbon morning tea to raise funds forcancer. The school was severely affected by cancer with the loss staff members and parents to this terrible disease. In honour of Jane Sutton, Sharon Mills and Ryan Fitzgerald we came together for this special cause. In total we raised $1148.
Today, we celebrate the incredible individuals who light the path of learning and inspire minds to dream, grow, and achieve. To the studnts of OLSC, teachers are more than educators —they are mentors, motivators, and changemakers who guide and shape the future compassion and live out the school motto - 'Where every child is valued.'
On behalf of our nearly 500 students, to the teachers of OLSC, thank you for your dedication, your creativity, and your unwavering support of our students. Your impact goes far beyond the learning centres!
Happy World Teachers’ Day! 🍎📚✨
Our 1/2’s swimming program has once again made a big splash! Over the past 2 weeks,

students from 1/2 participated enthusiastically in our swimming program designed to build confidence, improve technique, and promote water safety. Equipping students with water safety skills is the priority of this program and was very successful.
Under the guidance of the staff at Kingswim students developed key swimming skill ranging from basic water familiarization for beginners to stroke refinement and endurance training for our more experienced swimmers. The progress made by every child has been outstanding!
I would also like to thank all of the parents that offered their time to assist in walking to and from the pool and assisting with supervision.

All students now need to be wearing a hat while outside. New stocks of school hats have been delivered if you waiting on this delivery. Please ensure that your child / children have their school hat with them each day.
It is disappointing for students to miss a playtime if they do not have a hat!
Last Friday we had our annual school disco. As always this event was huge and raised roughly $1500. Thanks to everyone who was able to come along. There is no doubt that we will hold a disco again next year.
Please come and join us for our next community mass on Sunday 15th November at 10:00.

If you are planning on moving house and not returning to OLSC please let Ruki know as soon as possible. We currently have waiting lists in all year levels for 2026.
The parish prayer for the new church is below. Please feel free to include this in your family prayers as a new church for the Manor Lakes community would be a great feature of our parish.

If anyone in your family has an achievement that could be shared in the newsletter and is worthy of celebration and acknowledgement, please email Justin to be included in the next newsletter.
