SHARE THE DIGNITY

As part of a Wellbeing and Inclusion team initiative, there was an opportunity for a group of students to participate in contributing to the Share the Dignity programme for 2023 Share the Dignity: Sponsor a bag. Wellbeing staff identified four Year 8 students who met every week and worked as a team to create packs of personal hygiene items which were supplied by school staff donations as well as the donations from the organization Pinchapoo Pinchapoo – A Cheeky Way to Help.

Throughout the process of working together, the students demonstrated skills of leadership, empathy, understanding and gratitude whilst working hard to the deadline of putting together the many bags donated to this great cause for 2023.

Student comments –

“In the community group we did bags for the people in need of bags of goodies for Christmas and we didn’t get do it for long but we took a lot of care into the bags for many times if people and we all connected over the great thing we did”.

“I'm hoping that from the help of The Share the Dignity Program, people learn that help is out there and that they’re appreciated and loved more than they think. I’m also hoping that those women are able to spread the love and support to others. This program helped me realise that not everyone is as lucky as other people and I’m very grateful I was able to help those in need.”

2023 PACIFIC GAMES, SOLOMAN ISLANDS - LACHLAN COMPETES

It's been an action-packed week for Lachlan, who has been representing Australia at the Pacific Games in Honiara in the Solomon Islands. Lachlan raced in the lightweight division (under 75kg) in the windsurfers , representing Australia and sailing against competitors from other Pacific countries. They had 15 races over the week of racing, including a medal race on the last day, which saw him one point behind and needing to finish in front of the Fijian sailor to secure the silver medal. He held his nerve well and scored a second in the medal race, so silver medal overall for the individual competition. He also won bronze in the team's event, with Queensland sailor Jarrod who raced in the over 75kg division.
