Cooking Competition
Students from Year 7 to 11 applied to be part of the 2023 ‘Nailed it’ cooking competition. Twenty-six students (13 pairs) were selected randomly out of 100 who applied. Students were presented with a selection of three decorated cupcakes, then in pairs attempted to replicate them under strict time constraints.
Student's received two 'HELP' cards per pair. These provided two minutes of advice/help per card. Other than this, students used their own initiative and creativity to get the cakes decorated. Students had 100 minutes to bake, decorate and to reveal their groups creations to the judges and other contestants.
The winning students both received a small prize and certificate. A big thank you to Sue Holderness and Vicki Coppock for facing the very difficult decision of choosing the winner and runner up of Nailed It 2023.
Balin and Caitlyn of year 8 won ‘Nailed it 2023'. Runners up were Ruby and Jasmine (Year 10). The judges decided they had to also give an ‘honourable mention’ to Gemma and James (Year 8), as well as Hunter and Billy (Year 9) for their creative take on the snowman cupcake…these creations were in true ‘Nailed It’ style.
