School Athletics Carnival-Wednesday 10th June

Our upcoming Athletics Carnival is scheduled for Wednesday 10th June at the Walcha Central School oval. To help the day run smoothly, please see the important details below:

Drop-off and Pick-up Details

  • Arrival: All students need to be dropped off directly to the Walcha Central oval in time for a 9:00 am start.
  • Bus Travellers: Students who normally catch the bus to school will be dropped off and collected directly from Walcha Central by Oxley Explorer. A St Pat's teacher will be there to supervise these students in both the morning and the afternoon.
  • Pick-ups: Students who do not catch the bus must be collected directly from the carnival oval at the end of the day. Please note that we will NOT be returning to the St Pat's campus.
  • Full details have also been sent out via the Compass portal.

What If It Rains? If the weather looks unpleasant, a Compass notification will be sent out at7:00 am on the morning of the carnival. If the event is postponed, students will attend school as normal, and we will arrange an alternative date for the carnival.

We Need Your Help! To make the day a success for our kids, we need a few extra hands. Our P&F is kindly asking for volunteers to help run the barbecue and the food stall. Even if you can only spare an hour of your time, your help would be greatly appreciated! Please contact the school office if you can assist.

Important Event Information

  • Timed Finals: Most track events will have two or more heats. Because places are determined by time, overall winners won't be known until all heats have been run and timed. This means a student who wins their individual heat might not necessarily win the overall event. Ribbons will be awarded once all times are finalised.
  • High Jump: Unfortunately, due to the forecasted wind, rain and cold temperature for tomorrow (Friday 5th June)  as well as the muddy state of the top playground, we have been forced to postpone the high jump event to Friday 12th June. We will be having our official presentation for the athletics carnival on that afternoon at 2.30pm.

St Patrick's Primary Sports Handbook

St Patrick's now has an official sports handbook and it has been updated after the school swimming carnival held recently. This book is designed to give all members associated with our school a clearer understanding of when our school conducts our various sporting carnivals, the processes/qualifying times involved for students who want to represent our school at Diocesan sporting events as well as an explanation of the representative sporting pathways your child may want to undertake in their respective sports.
