As I reflect on the last 6 months at Mitcham Primary School, I would like to extend a sincere thank you to our wonderful school community for the warm welcome and genuine sense of belonging you have shown me.

From my first days, I have felt truly included in the life of the school. Being invited into classrooms, meetings, celebrations and special events has given me a strong appreciation for the pride and care that exists across our community. Whether it has been assemblies, learning celebrations, sporting events or community gatherings, I have been grateful for every opportunity to connect with students, staff and families.

What stands out most is the way everyone works together in the best interests of our students. The kindness, professionalism and openness shown by staff, the enthusiasm and curiosity of our students, and the ongoing support from families all contribute to making Mitcham Primary School such a special place to learn and grow.

As we look ahead to the new school year, I also want to highlight the New Year of Learning initiative from the Victorian Government, designed to support families and students as they prepare for 2026 and beyond. This resource provides helpful information for parents and carers on topics ranging from getting ready for primary school, understanding what to expect at school, health and wellbeing supports, to navigating school costs and inclusion programs — all aimed at helping every child unlock their potential in the year ahead. As we approach the holiday season, I would like to wish all our families a safe, restful and joyful break. I hope this time provides opportunities to relax, recharge and create many lovely memories together with loved ones. Thank you once again for making me feel so welcome, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside you in the year ahead as we support our students and celebrate all that makes Mitcham Primary School such a positive and vibrant learning environment.
