Principal Message

Friday

Dear Mitcham Families,

As we close out 2025, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible learning, growth, and joy we have shared together this year. Our students have amazed us with their resilience, creativity, and enthusiasm, and it has been a privilege to watch them flourish.

The past fortnight has been filled with wonderful events that truly capture the spirit of our school community:

  • Class Parties brought laughter, games, and a chance for students to reflect on their friendships and achievements.
  • Grade 2 Camp Day gave our younger adventurers a taste of independence and teamwork, with plenty of fun activities to enjoy.
  • Graduations were a highlight:
    • Prep Graduation was a fabulous celebration of our youngest learners. We were delighted to hear their career aspirations, ranging from being Grade 1 teachers, ballet dancers, construction workers, dads, zookeepers, ice cream shop attendants. Their dreams remind us of the endless possibilities ahead.
    • Grade 6 Graduation was a proud and emotional evening. We could not have been prouder of the students we are sending off to high school next year. Parents, please be sure to read the award recipient citations further in this newsletter to celebrate their achievements in detail.

A very special thank you goes to our Graduation Parent Committee. The effort, thought, and time you committed ensured the most brilliant food and decorations. We love the tradition of our Grade 5 parents taking charge of catering, allowing Grade 6 parents to relax and enjoy the night. Your contribution made the evening truly memorable.

As mentioned in a previous edition of Mitchat, we are farewelling several staff members at the end of this year. We thank them for their dedication and wish them all the very best as they embark on new adventures in 2026.

We also extend our congratulations to Kate Price, who has supported us wonderfully in the teaching of PE this year. Kate will be taking up a position at Great Ryrie Primary School next year. We hope to continue seeing her as a casual relief teacher at different times during 2026, her energy and commitment have been greatly valued by our community.

To our students: thank you for your hard work, curiosity, and kindness. You are the heart of Mitcham Primary School, and we are so proud of each and every one of you.

To our families and friends: thank you for your unwavering support. Your partnership makes all the difference in creating the vibrant, caring environment we treasure here at Mitcham.

On behalf of all staff, I wish you a happy and safe Christmas and a joyful summer holiday. May this time be filled with rest, fun, and special moments with loved ones. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2026 for another year of learning and growth.

Warmly,

Erin

Congratulations!

We are thrilled to share an outstanding achievement from one of our Grade 2 students, Ryan F. Last weekend, Ryan competed at the Eastlink Signature Diving Competitions and proudly stepped onto the podium three times, earning one gold medal and two silver medals across various events. Ryan was so happy to share this news with his teachers and peers, and we are equally excited to celebrate his success. Congratulations, Ryan!
