A reminder to us all of how important it is to keep learning about Australia's history was evident at this week's assembly, brilliantly lead by the Year 2/3 and Year 3/4 classes. The students shared their collaboratively written Acknowledgments of Country, which showed a deep understanding of its importance, as well as the importance of Bunjil, the creator of all things for Wurundjeri Woiwurrung people. Thanks to Denise and Terri.
Students, through Buddy Time and Art Club, were given an opportunity to design their own hand as a symbol of commitment to learning more about First Nations peoples and their history (which is our history). TRUTH ~ TREATY ~ VOICE
I had the privilege of watching our senior students partner their buddies last Tuesday morning as they attended our Parish Weekly Mass at our church. The students were, as expected, beautifully respectful and a number of parishioners made mention of that to me on my way out. Thanks to Kate, our RE leader, who timetables classes to share the liturgy with the wider congregation. And thankyou to our senior students, who continue to model positive behaviours to the Foundation students at Sacred Heart. It is appreciated!
Our Lost Property, which I must admit looks a little untidy and unkempt, is having a revamp. This Friday any items of clothing NOT part of the school uniform (hats, beanies, parkers, gloves, water bottles etc) will be set out on a table after school. Plerase feel free to collect what is yours. Those items, however, not claimed, will go the the St Vincent De Paul store in Preston.
Also this Friday items of school uniform will be put out ; jackets, jumpers etc. If your child has misplaced any of their uniform please come up to the school and look through the Lost Property area. This time of year is a perfect time to be taking off clothing throughout the day, so we understand that items may be misplaced.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOUR CHILD'S UNIFORM IS CLEARLY MARKED PLEASE!
We thank you for your diligence in this area.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Thanks for your ongoing support,
Happy autumn!
