Feast Day Celebrations
Soon we will be celebrating the feast day of our school and parish community. School life began at St Mary's with children learning in tents back in the goldfields era. Now we have beautiful facilities and wonderful learning spaces to enjoy.
On Fri 11the Dec we will be celebrating as a school community by joining in with the parish Mass at 9:15am. All welcome.
We will then enjoy an activity back at school along with a shared morning tea.
Parish Celebrations:
2026 marks 160 years of the blessing of the Church of the Holy Name of Mary. You are invited to join in with the parish celebration to mark this occasion.
There will be
9:15am Mass and Rosary Procession to Grotto
730pm: Dinner at St Mary’s Hall
All welcome to come to both or either celebrations.
Continuing the Mercy Way and a Call to Action
On the recent school closure day our staff took the time to reflect on the Faith Story of St Mary's School. We have a great history and legacy which is particularly expressed in the Mercy charism. In 1905 the Mercy Sisters came to the school bringing with them dedicated lives of mercy. Mercy is about putting the love of Jesus into action. We thought about how we can continue to do this in our community. Here are a few photos from our day together, including staff walking to the Community House to drop off the food donations from families for the Food Pantry.
The Season of Creation: Sept 1st to Oct 4th
What is the season of Creation? During the Season of Creation, church communities unite as an ecumenical family in prayer and action for our common home, the world in which we live.
This year the theme is around water and is guided by the vision of the prophet Ezekiel (47:1–12): a river flowing from the temple of God, which grows without stopping and brings life where everything seems barren.
Water heals, restores, and makes creation flourish. But it also challenges us: to recognize ecological damage, to embrace our interconnectedness, and to immerse ourselves in the responsibility of caring for and restoring our Common Home.
With all the rain we have had of recent weeks we see around us the gift of flowing creeks and full dams. But we also know how precious it is when there is very little. How can we take time to enjoy the beauty of creation in our families and join together as good stewards of this gift?
