Our big adventure to Chesterfield farm!

What an exciting day!

For some children, it was their first time travelling on a bus and their first visit to a farm, making it such a special adventure!

Throughout the day, we enjoyed so many wonderful experiences and had the opportunity to get up close with a variety of farm animals. We enjoyed our morning tea and lunch together in the shed and had plenty of time to explore and discover.

One of the highlights was our feeding walk. Each child was given handfuls of dried food to feed the animals as we walked around the farm. We saw goats, kangaroos, sheep, lots of deer, camels, horses and a very cheeky ostrich! We weren't allowed to feed the ostrich as it was being a little too rough.

The children also had the opportunity to learn how to milk a cow and discovered lots of interesting facts about where milk comes from and where it goes. We learnt that there are two types of milk—one that we drink and another that is used to make cheese, yoghurt and other dairy products.

The tractor ride was another exciting experience! We travelled around the farm, seeing many of the animals we had fed and learning their names and some very interesting facts about them. There were lots of smiles and plenty of excitement along the way!

The baby nursery was full of hands-on fun. We were able to gently pat guinea pigs, rabbits, baby goats, a calf, two new lambs and two very screechy parrots. The children were so gentle and caring when interacting with the animals.

We also had the chance to watch Scout, a clever sheepdog, round up the sheep. We learnt that these amazing dogs can respond to three different types of commands—voice, hand signals and whistles. It was incredible to watch Scout at work!

It was such a fun and memorable day filled with animals, learning, laughter and lots of muddy adventures. We returned to kinder very happy—and definitely a lot muddier than when we left! 🐄🐑🐐🐖🐴🚜

What a fun filled adventurous day!!! Wonderful memories were made.
