Our motto, our purpose, our heart is “Building Community”.

We create opportunities for our school families to connect,

get to know each other and build relationships so that we can

all support each other as we grow in community.

Have you met our Events Team?

Continuing the series on meeting our FOD volunteers, it's now time to meet our amazing Events Team from Friends of Donvale.  These hard-working, creative and dedicated DCC parents are committed to creating fabulous events for our community. I know you will agree they are doing a brilliant job this year - and they manage to have a whole lot of fun as they do it!

Meet our Events Team

Names: Ingrid Briggs, Melissa Grueber, Jean Burley, Esther Smith

Team: FOD Events Team

How would you describe the role of the Events Team?

We are responsible for planning, organising and executing events that promote school spirit, celebrate achievements, foster social interaction and encourage parent and community involvement!

As a team, we coordinate all the larger events that are run by FOD for both the Primary and Secondary School. Some of these include Welcome Fest, Primary Disco, Glow night, Hot Chocolate day for Primary and Donut Day for Secondary, just to name a few.

We also work alongside DCC staff supporting events like the Year 12 Valedictory service and GAT lunch.

What does the day-to-day involvement for the team include? We always try to make ourselves available and help where we are needed.

Tell us about the team's time commitment: Leading up to larger events can be quite busy. However, being a larger team the load of work is spread out between us. Our tasks can include picking items up for events, decorating areas where the event takes place, co-ordinating between different companies and staff, and then being present for the actual events.

What does the team love most about this role?  We love to see the students happy faces when they are part of an event that we have organised. It is a pleasure to work toward creating a vibrant, engaging and inclusive school community. We want all students and families to look back on their school journey with many memorable experiences. We believe this helps to build a stronger school culture.

Share team goals for the remainder of 2025: To continue creating inclusive, engaging and meaningful events and to celebrate student life while also bringing our school community together.

Another Fabulous Term of Community!

We are, once again, extremely grateful for the joyful work of our FOD committee, creating fabulous opportunities through Term Three for connection and community gathering.

This term, FOD have coordinated a fun-filled day out at Rush HQ - indoor adventure and trampoline park for our Year 4 students and families, followed by a social Let's Glow event for our Year 5 students here at the college, and also hosted a special evening event of wine and cheese for parents new to DCC.

Father's Day Stall was a huge success, with 44 DCC parents volunteering their time to set up and serve our students as they chose cleverly prepared gifts for our Dads over two days. The stall looked amazing, the gifts were creative, but it was the atmosphere created by our volunteers that brought the space to life! We say a huge thank you to our Stalls Team and to each volunteer for bringing their heart and love to the college for this special stall.

The Prayer team has continued to gather each Monday through this term, and is busy preparing to share with you all their big '50 hours of Prayer' event, as another celebration of 50 years of Donvale.

Join me in giving thanks to our gracious God for this wonderful team of parents, who continue to serve us all with their creativity, energy and enthusiasm. It is the highlight of my month to sit amongst them at their FOD meetings and share in their excitement and passion for the community of Donvale Christian College. They are truly wonderful ambassadors for our community!
