SCHOOL LEADERSHIP MESSAGE

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Connection and a sense of belonging is something that I have been thinking about over the holidays and during the first couple weeks of Term 4. I was prompted because the Year 12 students are coming close to end of their time at Korumburra SC and I wonder if they are having mixed feelings of anticipation for what comes next and understandably a sense of apprehension about the next stage in their lives as they transition out of secondary schooling to future pathways.
I would hope that Korumburra SC has been a positive experience for each and every one of them and they leave with lifelong positive memories about their time at school and the people they have connected with. Whatever the experience, Korumburra SC will always be a part of their identity, and I sincerely hope that each in their own way is proud to be a KSC alumni. We wish them well for the exams and their journey ahead whatever their chosen pathway and look forward to hearing about the accomplishments in the future.
This week we received our final school review report. This report sets out the key directions for Korumburra Secondary College’s next School Strategic Plan (SSP). We are now ready to commence consultation with our school community and finalise the new School Strategic Plan. Next steps will be to engage with the whole school community to:
discuss the final outcomes of the school review
revise and/or refine the vision and values of the school
promote and engage staff with the key directions (recommended four-year goals, targets and key improvement strategies) to invite and welcome collective responsibility for the new plan.
Emma Turner has been successful in her application to have an Art Cube installation available for our students to exhibit Year 12 artworks in the Art Cubes Exhibition near the railway station/ new skatepark in Korumburra. The public will be able to view the exhibit through portholes from the outside so please go along and see the fabulous creative work from our students from Tuesday the 1st of December to Sunday the 13th of December.
Finally, I would like to congratulate Jess Churchill, Noah Rodriquez and Will Reynolds on their successful applications and selection as Korumburra School College Captains for 2027. They have had the courage and conviction to put themselves forward and a willingness to make a contribution to the College. Their parents, teachers, friends and peers ought to be very proud and encouraged by their positive attitudes and the character each has shown. I was very impressed by the standard of their applications and I look forward to working with them next year as we collectively work to enrich the educational outcomes and experiences of all students at the College.
Warm regards,
Emmanuel Skoutas
Principal
