HOL Café students have been extremely busy this term. They have worked really well together focusing on Teamwork, Confidence and Support. Adapting to changes in the space and applying what they have learnt has seen a very successful term. We have had some wonderful opportunities to put our new space to the test being The Biggest Morning Tea in June and the Inclusion Community Practice Network meeting in May.
The Biggest Morning Tea Cancer Council fundraiser
On Friday May 30th, the HOL Café team hosted a bake sale for Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser. We are extremely proud of raising $2,740 to go towards supporting those affected by cancer.
We are extremely thankful for Mayor Steve Abboushi and Dylan and Anthony from Highmark Homes visiting us on the day to support our event. We are very grateful to Highmark Homes for providing us with the kitchen remodel and the new space was put to very good use and allowed for a more streamlined production.
Thanks also go to our HOL Trade team for helping to man the tables on the day. Thanks also go to our leadership team, our administration team, teaching and Education Support staff and our extended Brookside community on our successful fundraiser.
Inclusion Community Practice Network Meeting
In May we had the opportunity to cater for the Inclusion Community Practice Network Meeting. This was attended by members of the region from Inclusion programs in the area.
The students in the program prepared food the day before the meeting, delivered and even had the chance to speak to the attendees about the HOL Café program. It was a wonderful experience for them.
