St Vincent de Paul Visit – Living Out the Spirit of St Mary MacKillop
Last week, after our Whole School Mass for the Solemnity of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, our students were fortunate to welcome Chris Nolan from St Vincent de Paul Society. Chris spoke separately with K–2 and Years 3–6, sharing age‑appropriate insights into the mission of St Vincent de Paul and the many ways they support people experiencing hardship in our community.
Chris helped students understand the reality of homelessness in Australia, what it can look like, why it happens, and how small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference. He also highlighted the everyday good works carried out by St Vincent de Paul volunteers, reminding students that compassion, generosity, and service are central to our Catholic identity.
In the spirit of St Mary MacKillop’s call to “never see a need without doing something about it,” our school proudly presented the funds raised through our recent Jersey Day to support the ongoing outreach of St Vincent de Paul. This donation reflects the commitment of our students and families to helping those in need and living out the Gospel message in practical ways.
We thank Chris for his time and for inspiring our students to think deeply about how they can contribute to a more just and caring community.
Feast of the Assumption
This week, our school community joyfully celebrates the Feast of the Assumption, one of the most important feasts in the Church. On this day, we remember our belief that Mary was taken body and soul into Heaven, a sign of her closeness to God and a promise of hope for all of us. The Assumption reminds us that Mary’s life was one of deep faith, courage, and trust, she listened to God, said “yes” with her whole heart, and lived a life of love and service.
To mark this special feast, Year 2 will lead our school community in a liturgy during Assembly on Friday 14 August. Our Year 2 students have been preparing with great care and reverence, and we look forward to gathering together in prayer as they guide us in reflection and worship.

Term 3
This term continues to offer rich opportunities for prayer and community through class liturgies, Parish Masses, Reconciliation, and the commencement of Holy Communion preparation sessions. We look forward to sharing these meaningful moments together.
As our Year 3 students begin preparation for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion, we hold them especially in our prayers. May this time of learning, reflection, and faith formation deepen their understanding of Jesus’ love and strengthen their connection to our parish community. We pray that their families feel supported and blessed as they guide their children through this important step in their faith journey.
