National Cross Country Success
We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of Zoe T in year 4 and Violet ES in year 6, who both represented their state at the Australian Athletics Cross Country Championships over the weekend. The national event was held in Ballarat and brought together some of the country’s best young cross-country runners.
The conditions were incredibly challenging, with periods of rain, progressive hills, huge puddles and plenty of mud making the course particularly demanding. Spike shoes were certainly essential to maintain grip!
Both girls performed exceptionally well in these tough conditions. In the Under 11 Girls event, Zoe finished an outstanding 8th in Australia from a field of 74 competitors and was part of the 2nd-placed overall team, coming home with a well-deserved National medal.
Violet also ran strongly in the Under 13 Girls, finishing 38th out of 64 competitors in a highly competitive national field.
We are incredibly proud of both Zoe and Violet for their determination, resilience and commitment. What a fantastic achievement to compete at a national level!
District Athletics
District Athletics will be held on Monday 31st August at the Meadowglen arena in Epping. Congratulations to those who made it to the squad.
