Kids Corner

The “Kids’ Corner” section of our school newsletter provides the opportunity for the children to showcase their talents or communicate something special.

The first Kids Corner for the year involves two students' learning.

Billy (Year 3)

Billy is sharing a narrative piece about Christmas.

Billy’s Christmas Present

On Christmas Day, I woke up early and ran to the Christmas Tree because I was so excited to see what presents I got.

At the Christmas Tree, there were lots of boxes (presents), I had to read all of the cards and find my name. I found quite a few boxes however there was one that was long and skinny. I started to ask myself, “I wonder what is in here?”

Then I quickly unwrapped the present and the box was green but didn’t have a picture of the present. So then I got even more excited and opened the box. I was so happy because in the box was an electric scooter!

“Thanks Santa!” I was so, so, so happy and then I started to ride it. You know what, I didn’t even have to read the instructions because I knew how to ride it from YouTube clips.

I have a few favourites tricks such as:

  • a wheelie - that’s when you lift the front wheel up and keep riding
  • Bunny hop - that’s when you lift both wheels off the ground
  • 360 - that’s when you do a whole turn in a circle
  • Burnout - that’s when you go fast and then slam the breaks on

To make it go:

  • you must charge it over night
  • Turn it on - by pressing the on button
  • Then you push your foot on the round symbol on the deck
  • To stop, you press the break.

It is also very important to be safe when riding the scooter, for example:

  • Always wear a helmet
  • Don’t go too fast around people
  • Be careful of dogs
  • Try and ride on the footpath
  • Be careful when you cross the road.

Aria (Year 4)

Aria is sharing a piece about her Lego Collections.

How I enjoyed my "LEGO"

Last year on Christmas, I got a lot of presents which were Legos, and I felt happy and excited because it was fun. I did it at my free time at my house, and the best part was making it and watching it slowly come together.
