Captains Corner

The Captain’s Corner section provides an opportunity for our School Captains to share some information or news about our school, below is their first piece for this year.
Hi everyone!
Our names are Saheli, Zavier, Amaya, Sam and Jenny and we are the 2026 school captains.
We are delighted to look after our wonderful school and all the amazing students here at Glen Waverley Primary School and we can’t wait to help lead and represent our fantastic school throughout 2026.
At our last assembly, badges were presented to our 2026 leaders in recognition of the hard work and dedication they showed in earning their captaincy roles. Good luck everyone with your leadership roles this year.
We also have our swimming program taking place, which is always great to cool down and take a break from the sun, especially because in summer the sun is scorching hot. Best wishes with the lessons and make sure you don’t forget to bring your swimming gear.
Talking about a scorching hot sun reminds us, make sure that we all are wearing sun smart hats out in the sun and if you don’t have one, always remember to go to the stage. It’s also essential that you drink lots of water to be hydrated in the warm summer sun.
For the Year Sixes, inter-school sports have begun, and we are representing our school with pride, teamwork, and a positive attitude. It’s always wonderful to see everyone’s enthusiasm, teamwork, and commitment on display.
Talking about on display, how great is our new furniture? New desks with comfortable chairs, a whole new year 6 area and new wooden benches that are quite an upgrade from our old benches! Thank you to Mr. Catalano, Ms. Seach and School Council for organising these for us as we really appreciate it!
Lastly remember, it’s the start of the year so it’s time to get into the good books by making sensible choices everywhere around our school environment and being respectful to our teachers and peers. If we all do this, 2026 will be an even more amazing year for everyone.
Enjoy the beautiful weather and remember to try your best and enjoy our very first term of 2026!
From Saheli, Zavier, Amaya, Sam and Jenny
