Student Success

Emerson L – Gymnastics World Age Championships Update

Congratulations to Year 12 student Emerson, who has returned from representing Gymnastics Australia at the World Age Championships in Pamplona, Spain. At just 17 years old, Emerson was one of the youngest competitors in the Under 22 age category and delivered an exceptional performance on the international stage. He achieved a personal best, placed 14th in the world, and competed in an exceptionally tight field, narrowly missing out on the finals among athletes from 47 countries.

We are incredibly proud of Emerson’s dedication, resilience and achievement at this elite level. Well done, Emerson!

The Head Start Program supports students completing a School Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship (SBAT) while at school and then with the transition from school into the workforce. Students who are undertaking a School Based Apprenticeships/Traineeship must manage their time between: completing school (usually VCE VM ); completing a Certificate III; and often outside commitments such as sport and part-time work.

The Bayside Peninsula Area Head Start team are pleased to announce that the Beaumaris Secondary College 2025 Head Start SBAT of the Year award winner is: Dale Blackman

Dale is an apprentice Carpenter with Conrad Howard Builder. Dale has completed the Vocational Major Program alongside his Certificate III Carpentry studies at TAFE whilst also meeting his on-the-job work commitments. Dale has been with the Head Start program since November 2024, when in Year 11 he was signed up to his part-time apprenticeship. Dale had a clear vision for his future and knew what he wanted to do. Over the years, he has worked hard and impressed his employer, working at and above the expected level on the various job sites he has been at. He has developed strong working relationships, fitting in well with his work team. His employer is looking forward to having him work full-time after he has finished and graduated Year 12. Dale’s success in the Head Start program has been a delight to watch over the past two years. Dale is a very worthy recipient of the Head Start SBAT Student of the Year award.

The Head Start term are extremely proud of Dale’s achievements and we have no doubt that this is only the beginning of his success. Congratulations, Dale.
