SLRC News
Just a reminder for students and families about library loan limits at each site, and end-of-year return procedures:
Library Loan Limits
- Early Learning Years = 2 items for 2 weeks.
- Primary Years = 3 items for 2 weeks.
- Years 7-10 = Up to 4 items for 2 weeks; AV and Magazines for 1 week; Maximum of 3 items on same topic.
- Years 11-12 = Up to 6 items for 2 weeks; AV and Magazines for 1 week; Maximum of 3 items on same topic.
Items can be renewed on request, provided it is not long overdue and not reserved by others.
2025 Library Loans Junior School
As we are now in the last Term of the year, the last week for Junior School students to borrow books is Week 6. ALL Library Items then need to be returned during their Library Lessons in Week 7 please.
This is so Library staff can collect items back and complete a shelf tidy of the Libraries, in readiness for 2026. I’m sure you can appreciate that it takes a lot of time to generate loan lists, to check shelves, and then notify students and families of any outstanding loans items, particularly when Library Staff only work 1 day per week in either JS site. It does not help Library Staff when students do not return books at this requested time, but only increases the workload for us to continuously generate multiple loan lists and checking shelves when items are returned after this time, or in dribs and drabs. Library Staff have limited time allotted to provide a Library Service, and are still required to accommodate classes in the last weeks, despite this workload.
2025 Library Loans Senior School
Senior School Students need to please return ALL English text books by the start of Week 8 in readiness for 2026 classes to use. This is because it takes a lot of time to collect items back and determine who has outstanding loans, with only 1 Library staff member available for the workload.
For every other loan, please check with Miss Wells regarding your loans and whether you still need the items over the holiday break.
For everyone: It is also only fair and considerate of others that items be returned when finished with, so other borrowers can benefit by using the resources. That is why a Library exists - to provide resources equally to all Library users.
Thank you for your time and cooperation,
Best regards,
Elisabeth Wells
