Year 5 and 6 Learning Hub and Upper Junior Program Information Session
One of the most exciting initiatives currently underway in the Junior School is the development of our Year 5 and 6 Learning Hub, which will launch in 2027. Over recent months, we have been working hard to design a model that strengthens student belonging, provides increased opportunities for collaboration and enables students to benefit from greater subject expertise while maintaining the strong relationships and sense of connection that sit at the heart of our Junior School.
To share more about this exciting next step in our Junior School journey, we will be holding a Year 5 and 6 Learning Hub Information Session.
Event Details
- Date: Thursday 22 October
- Time: 5:00pm to 6:00pm
- Venue: Clayfield College Chapel
While the Learning Hub will directly involve our Year 5 and 6 students, the session is designed for all Junior School parents, as it provides valuable insight into the future direction of learning, leadership and student development at Clayfield College.
If you are unable to attend, we will endeavour to share the presentation and recording over the coming weeks, along with additional information and frequently asked questions.
We are looking forward to sharing the vision, answering questions and celebrating this important milestone for the Junior School.
Year 5 Kokoda Challenge
Today, our Year 5 students participated in the Kokoda Challenge, an experience that encouraged teamwork, perseverance and resilience. The students represented the College admirably and should be very proud of their efforts.
Next week, we will begin speaking with our Year 5 students about leadership opportunities for 2027. This marks the beginning of a process that will unfold over the coming weeks as students learn more about servant leadership, responsibility and opportunities tto contribute to our College community as Year 6 leaders.

Year 2 Starlab Education
“Excellent!”, “Realistic!”, “Terrific!”, “Spacerific!” and “Fantastic!” were how Year 2 summed up their recent Science incursion.
Last Thursday, our Year 2 students embarked on an exciting journey through space during a visit from the Starlab mobile planetarium. Stepping inside the giant inflatable dome, students were immersed in a realistic and engaging exploration of the Earth, Sun and Moon. They discovered how these celestial bodies move in relation to one another and learned about day and night, seasons and the phases of the Moon.
The experience brought our learning to life, allowing students to see concepts they had been studying in the classroom in a whole new way. The Starlab incursion was a memorable and inspiring experience that sparked a deeper interest in the wonders of our solar system.
“I really like how we saw videos of the astronauts on the moon.” (Bianca 2B)
“I learnt that Pluto had a big (and the longest) orbit around the moon.” (Harvey 2W)
“Our incursion was a lot of fun. It was funny learning about the misconceptions people had about Earth and the Moon.” (Jack 2B)
“I learnt that the sun is not the biggest star.” (Augustus 2W)
Year 7 Orientation Day
On Monday, Clayfield College hosted its much-anticipated Year 7 Orientation Day, an engaging event designed to welcome new students and support our current Year 6 cohort as they prepare for the exciting transition to Senior School. The day was filled with laughter, teamwork and new experiences as students forged new friendships and embraced the next chapter of their Clayfield journey.
From the moment they arrived in their Year 7 2027 shirts, our Year 6 students were buzzing with excitement as they reconnected with familiar faces from the Experience Day and met many of their future classmates.
The opportunity to build new connections, engage with staff and gain a greater understanding of Senior School routines and procedures helped ease any nerves and build confidence. As the day drew to a close, it was clear that our students are not only ready for the transition but are genuinely excited about the opportunities and experiences that lie ahead.
