Going Green

The Green Warriors presented at assembly last week. Here are the speeches that were given at assembly
(Thankyou to the Green Warriors for your passion in presenting)
Thanks to Clementine S who read her passionate speech on WASTE which I have previously published.
Hi we are here to remind you to bring your own cutlery to school. We are the leading school in Bayside for not using ANY plastic cutlery or straws.
Particularly impressive is our total banning of plastic cutlery saving
Per week
Spoons x 120
Forks x 400
Straws x 50
Per Year
Spoons 4,800
Forks 16,000!
Straws 2,000
A reminder that each grade has a bag to collect drink containers including the juice boxes from the canteen. The most outstanding grade for donations is Mrs O’s class. These get emptied into the BIG bins outside Traci’s room and the school gets 10 cents for every single container.
Don't forget to put your hot chocolate cups and lids into these containers. Traci takes them to 7-11 and they get turned into spongy playground flooring like you are sitting on right now. Also a reminder to collect lids with a 2 or a 4 number. They need to have no foam inside the lid and they need to be clean and washed please.
We have relocated the planter boxes outside and you can give the plants a water from your water bottles please.
The office has green environmentally friendly bags to pick up yard rubbish. This helps stop the rubbish going down the drains, out to the Bay and sadly into a fish or dolphin.
Reminding you that each grade has refillable soy and sauce bottles. We no longer give out soy fish OR tomato sauce sachets.
We are encouraging you to turn off your lights as you leave the room for lunch and library and specialist classes - turning your TV off can also save power.
We have a little reminder for each grade to Blutack near their light switch.
