Josh Sheffield New drinking fountains have proved popular!
This term, students will participate in our Inform and Empower digital safety education program, with age-appropriate sessions designed to help them navigate the online world safely and confidently.
Each year level has a different focus:
Further information about the term's learning focuses, along with resources for parents, will be sent home. These sessions provide a valuable opportunity to reinforce important conversations about digital safety both at school and at home.
It's been exciting to see the frame going up on our new building, with the project really starting to take shape. The basketball rings have also been installed, which is another welcome (albeit considerably overdue!) milestone.
Pleasingly, the project remains on schedule and within budget. We're looking forward to seeing the progress continue throughout the term.
New Drinking Fountains
You may have noticed our new drinking fountains around the school (above). Our previous fountains had caused ongoing issues and required significant maintenance expenditure, so we've invested in replacements that should serve the school well into the future.
I've never seen so many students suddenly keen to get a drink of water!
It's also a timely reminder about looking after our school facilities. We encourage students to take pride in what we have and to be upstanders if they notice others misusing or damaging equipment. These improvements are for everyone to enjoy, and we all have a role in looking after them.
New Pergola and Kitchen Garden
Our new pergola is another fantastic addition to the school grounds. A big thank you to former HPS parent Rob Matthews, who completed the construction.
We'll also be installing BBQs in this space to support our Kitchen Garden Program, providing further opportunities for students to prepare and enjoy food as part of their learning.
The BBQs will be secured outside school hours, with appropriate supervision and care taken when they're being used during the school day.
Parking
You will have noticed the new line markings outlining parking and stopping bays in the Kiss and Go area. Please adhere to these during Kiss and Go times, by moving to the closest bay to Hampton St, to allow for other cars to easily pull in behind you, as opposed to holding up traffic having to parallel park.
Bayside City Council is planning a complete redevelopment of the Castlefield Reserve playground and is inviting community feedback to help shape the design. Given the reserve's close connection with Hampton Primary School, this is a great opportunity for our students and families to share ideas about the play equipment, nature spaces and facilities they'd like to see. Council is also interested in recognising the historical connection between HPS students and the reserve.
You can provide feedback through the Castlefield Reserve consultation website, or speak with Council representatives at the reserve on Saturday 17 October (10 am–12 pm), Monday 26 October (12–1 pm) or Thursday 5 November (3–5 pm). Consultation closes 9 November 2026.
