Senior/Middle class News

Mr Durrington Miss Bacon Mr Espenschied

Well how time flies. We thought we'd give a look at the graduating class from last year and look forward to what the 'We May Be Small but we are Mighty Big' class of 2024 will produce.

Welcome

The 3-6 unit would like to welcome all students, parents and members of the community to academic year 2024. Our students have all made a fantastic transition into their classrooms, and have started developing strong bonds with their fellow students and teachers.

Our classrooms have primarily focused on the development of set rules and routines within the learning environment. All students have contributed to the formation of these shared understandings, to ensure a sense of collective ownership is developed.

Grade 3-6 Sport has also commenced this term, providing all students with the opportunity to participate in a variety of competitive sports throughout the year. Participation in these sessions is a highlight across the year, as it allows students to develop  team skills, self-confidence and an understanding of sports they may not be familiar with. This term our students will have the chance to compete in the District Swimming Carnival, following Swimming Trials with Mr Espenschied on Thursday, 15th February. Towards the end of term one, the District Summer Lightning Premiership will be held. Stay tuned for further updates as to what sports our students will have the opportunity to participate in.

A technology audit has been conducted throughout the school during the first few weeks of term. Devices have been checked and allocated to classes across the school, allowing students and staff to have the best opportunity to integrate learning technologies into their sessions. A Computer Lab has also been established in the main learning building, allowing classrooms to rotate through there on a daily basis. This Computer Lab will also provide the basis of the NAPLAN Assessments commencing Wednesday, 13th March for our Year 3 and 5 students.

We look forward to having an amazing 2024 with all students in the 3-6 unit. If you have any questions concerning your child's transition, learning or newsletter content, please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher via the Compass App.
